BIOGRAPHY
Rory Booth's professional acting career started in 2004 when
he appeared in the "Unilever Young Performers" production
of 'Oliver!' dir:Themi Venturas taking on the role
of "Dr Grimwig". In 2005 he enrolled in
the "Charon Williams-Ros School of Music" where he studied
the art of singing and has appeared in various musical
studio shows namely 'Feelin' Good' at "Club Krakatoa"
at Sibaya Casino 2005 and 'Stage Struck' at
the Kwasuka Theatre in 2006 as a lead singer.
In 2006, Rory played multiple roles in Garth Anderson's
Izinganekwane Story Theatre's production of 'Sleeping Beauty'
and co-wrote and performed in 'UMOYA WEZIHLAHLA - The spirit
of the trees' which was commissioned by SAPPI for Arbor Week.
Rory also toured Sweden in December 2006 in the
musical 'Mzansi Africa Siyakuthanda' which was dir:Kevin Gordon of Real Events.
In 2007 Rory completed a season
of 'Hamlet - The Prince of Demark' dir:Garth Anderson
in associaton
with the Playhouse Company where
he played all supporting roles including "Osric", "Lucianus"
and "Marcellus". Rory featured once again in Garth Andersons
story theatre productions of 'Cinderella' where he played
an "Ugly sister" and "The Princess and the Pea" where
he played multiple roles.
He then performed in the Playhouse Company's production
of 'When Rainclouds Gather' in association with "Action Space"
which formed part of the English Second Language set work.
The production toured KZN and Rory played the roles
of "George Appleby Smith" and "Gilbert". Rory also starred
in Garth Anderson's production of William Shakespeares
'A Midsummer Night's Dream' where he played the role
of "Bottom the Weaver" at the new "Durban Botanic Gardens
Amphitheatre UNDER THE FIGTREE". Other shows include
Gail Snyman's 'Sasol Fever' at the Catalina Theatre
where he was "Euguene".
Rory's silky voice and hard work ethic, coupled with the right attitude
have firmly put him on the path to stardom. Watch this space...
