Quincy Fynn is an internationally
trained actor, writer, poet, spoken-word artist, emcee and director. Since
his return from New York in 2003, he has appeared on stage in a number
of very diverse roles, including Benedick in 'Much Ado About
Nothing' and Gill Scott Heron in Flatfoot Dance Company’s
highly acclaimed performance piece entitled 'Busy Being Blue'.
He performed in the Actor’s Co-op’s production of 'Macbeth'
at the Playhouse Opera, where his portrayal
of the Scottish tyrant has been described as “brilliant”and “breathtaking”.
Onother notable performance was in 'Walking Like An African'
with Flatfoot Dance Co. for which he wrote and performed an original monologue.
He was Jae in the show 'Just About Education HIV-AIDS',
an Awareness School's Tour, which he also co-wrote and directed.
In 'The Doors - to the other side' a new production staged at the Elizabeth
Sneddon TH he played Jim Morrison, the poet to much critical
acclaim. The Sneddon hosted 'Poetry Africa' to which Quincy
was invited to perform some of his original poetry.
In addition to his performances and writing skills, Quincy is also an
active figure in his community as President of the 'Wentworth Arts
& Culture Organization' (WACO). This organization has led to
the formation of an arts and culture learnership programme, which offers
youngsters in Wentworth and other areas training in speech and drama, contemporary
and street dance, capoeira, music and graphic art.
Quincy also fronts the hip hop-jazz fusion band 'Big
Idea' which performs regularly around Durban and have toured
Cape Town.
