BIOGRAPHY
Born in Durban, Pascar Dube began his theatre involvement in 1995,
attending Steps into Dance Classes with the Playhouse Company.
He has participated in Reach Out Youth Dance Project,
Performed in FNB Vita Dance Shongololo 1997.
Pascar is a
graduate from Durban University of Technology in Drama and
Performing Studies, where he has performed in a number of
Departmental productions including 'Grease', 'Sophiatown',
'The Tempest', 'Show Boat', 'The Three Penny Opera', 'Exodus'
and many more.
He also holds a Higher Certificate in Directing from
Create South Africa. Pascar has helped in Movement and
History of Theatre with the Mbongeni Ngema Academy
in 2005 and also taught Dance and Movement with
the Christian Life Centre in Chatsworth in 2005.
In Durban, Pascar is a well known and respected dancer,
choreographer, actor and director. This young active
theatre practitioner has worked with leading dance companies.
He has been in numerous Siwela Sonke Dance Theatre productions
such as 'City Scapes', 'Edge', 'State of Grace', 'Home' and others,
he has also performed with
the Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company in the productions
of 'Run for Cover', 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'
and 'Nunsense'.
He has demonstrated his skills on Stage,
Production Management and Company Management in productions,
like 'Bombay Crush', 'Chalo Cinema2' and 'Medea', Private gigs
and Conferences such as the 'World Economic Summit - Durban ICC',
'FAO Regional Conference for Africa' which was opened
by President Thabo Mbeki in Johannesburg Sandton Convention Centre
and 'Now or Never' Live Concert with Videovision Entertainment.
He has coordinated African Renaissance Extravaganza, in Durban
at The Playhouse Company 2006.
Pascar has presented choreography for the annual '>Jomba!
Dance Festival', 'Red Eye Festival' and 'Macufe Festival'
in Bloemfontein. Has been awarded Best Director 2004 and
Creative Award in 2003 by Durban University of Technology
and also nominated Best Upcoming Dancer 2004 by KZN Dance Link.
The production that he directed, 'One for the Road' by
Harold Pinter received nominations as Best Production of the Year,
Best Lead in Drama and Won Best Supporting Actor in Drama 2005
during Durban Theatre Awards at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre UKZN.
Pascar Dube is a founder Member and Artistic Director
for Art2Art Productions. He then later joined The Playhouse Company
as a Drama Co-ordinator.
