BIOGRAPHY
Kajal Bagwandeen is a South African actress, dancer and presenter.
She is a graduate of the Nateshwar Dance Academy and is trained in Kathak.
Although meticulously trained in North Indian classical dance style Kathak,
she is also accomplished in contemporary, Bollywood, modern, hip hop and
Indian folk dancing.
She has been dancing for over 16 years and has travelled to Mumbai and Delhi
to further her passion for dance. She has performed extensively around
South Africa for various glamorous functions including, South African Sport
teams, Bollywood stars, Presidents, Durban MTN Fashion week as well as
many charitable organisations as community service to name a few.
She has also travelled to Oman, and India to perform.
She was a finalist in the E TV Backstage Superstar Competition and the principal
lead dancer in the hit extravaganza Chalo Cinema 1 (2005)
'Chalo Cinema 2' (2006)
and 'Chalo Cinema 3' (2007)
staged at the Playhouse Drama, and was later staged
at Jo'burg's Emperor's Palace.
She has been nominated for Best Female Dancer 2007 (Fool's Awards) and Best
Newcomer 2007( KZN Dance Link Awards)
Kajal is also a part time model and has appeared in advertisements for TV and
print. She was crowned 1st princess at the Miss India SA pageant in 2004.
She completed her post graduate degree in accounting, auditing, taxation and
managerial finance at the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2005. She has had
acting, voice modulation and presenter training by
Caroline Smart in 2006.
She starred in the glamorous musical Bombay Crush produced by Video Vision
Entertainment and Sun International as the lead actress and dancer. (2005-2006)
She is a Voice Artist for radio drama's at
Lotus FM and a guest presenter on
Eastern Mosaic. She is also a freelance presenter recently seen
presenting for a spiritual programme, 'Dharma Moments'.
Kajal is passionate about her work and life in general. She is warm, bubbly and
compassionate, enjoys the beach, socializing, fashion, travelling, listening to
music, reading, spending time with her family and friends and is an avid dog
lover.
