BIOGRAPHY
Since the start of Cobus's career, it was obvious that he was not to be limited to a single entertainment
genre. He obtained a BA Drama degree from the University of Pretoria in 1999 and have since done everything
from Opera to Television.
Cobus made his big musical debut as Franz the butler in 'The Sound of Music' and then followed
as Freddy Einsford-Hill in 'My Fair Lady'. He went on to repeat this part at the Playhouse Theatre
in the 2006 Durban production. In 2007 he played the role of Motel the tailor in the
classical 'Fiddler on the Roof'. He then took the stage
with Superstar Steve Hofmeyr in 'Dis Hoe Dit Was, Die Steve Hofmeyr Storie' followed
by 'Opera Mania' at the Civic Theatre and 'The Full Monty' that ran in Cape Town as well as Johannesburg.
His most recent role was Kleinboet in the sold out Afrikaans Musical 'Ons Vir Jou'. And
in Durban, the role of Don Quixote in 'Man of La Mancha' dir:Themi Venturas.
As a performer constantly striving to broaden his theatre horizons, Cobus has also managed to leave
his mark as a straight actor in plays such as 'Siener in die Suburbs' (KKNK 2002),
'Swaelduif' (a one-man show - KKNK 2003), 'Full Circle' and most recently in the farce's,
'Knypie Oppie Kant' and 'Knypie 2', ''n Dubbeldosis'.
His passion is not restricted to the stage, however, and Cobus's screen credits
include Jak-man in Paul C. Venter's 'Een Skoenlapper', Brut Weiers in 'Haak en Steek'
with Casper de Vries, and Kobus Welters in 'Dryfsand'. He also made small appearances in the two feature
films 'Stander' and 'Hoof of Africa'. His latest credit is the role of Johann in the film 'Skin',
opposite Sam Niel and Sophie Okonedo.
